Subject: 2021 National Defense Authorization Act Update
The 2021 NDAA was released by the House and Senate conferees on Friday, December 5, 2020. H.R. 6395, the conference version of the 2021 NDAA, has several provisions of interest to EANGUS membership. There’s a lot in this piece of legislation so we are providing a summary of the key sections pertaining to the National Guard.
The House and Senate should vote on the NDAA during the week of December 7th. The NDAA is seen as “must-pass legislation” as it has passed the last 59 years in a row. The President has warned that he may veto it, but Congress is moving it forward. Each version (House and Senate) passed each chamber with a veto-proof majority, so if the President does veto it, they could override the veto and it becomes law.
