EANGUS celebrated the retirement of Chief Master Sgt. Maurice L. Williams, Command Chief, Air National Guard, on Friday at the Air National Guard Readiness Center at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.

Williams served as the 13th Command Chief and principal advisor to the Director of the ANG, representing the highest level of enlisted leadership. He supported more than 108,400 Airmen during his service, working to improve the quality of life, health, welfare, morale, and professional development of Air Guard members.

Members of the EANGUS national office were at Joint Base Andrews to mark the occasion. “It was an incredible opportunity to attend the retirement ceremony for Chief Williams,” said Legislative Director Michael T. Lane.

“Having worked alongside him for many years, his efforts in leading the Air National Guard have led to many advancements for enlisted Airmen of all ranks regardless of location, background, or abilities.”

Williams’ successor has not been named, as military promotions were held up for 10 months last year by a single Senator in protest of a reproductive health care policy.

“We are sad to lose this amazing leader, but look forward to the future leaders that will now step up and fill his shoes,” Lane said.
