The National Office has been hard at work promoting the mission of EANGUS in Washington, D.C. The team’s presence on Capitol Hill, whether in legislative hearings, Senate press releases, or hard at work in the office, furthers our efforts to promote the best interests of the National Guard, retirees, veterans, and their families.
Here’s an inside look at the work we’re doing in DC:
EANGUS was graciously invited to the White House for the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. We toured portions of the White House not typically open to the public, viewed historic mementos from presidents past, and honored the veterans and military families in attendance.
After months of coordination, our efforts were integral in the introduction of the Guarding Readiness Resources Act. The bipartisan bill aims to ensure that federal reimbursement funds make their way back to National Guard units rather than the U.S. Treasury. Executive Director Jeff Frisby’s comments were included in Senator Mike Lee’s (R-UT) press release on the legislation. Read the full release here.
We attended the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs’ Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity Legislative Hearing on Pending Legislation including the Guard and Reserve GI Bill Parity Act of 2024, the Veterans Collaboration Act, and other bills that expand or protect educational and housing opportunities. Chairman of the committee Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-Wisc.) spoke about the importance of of the National Guard and parity in benefits for those who have stepped up to protect our country.
Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Chief of the National Guard Bureau Tony Whitehead visited the EANGUS office. His support, knowledge, and passion is invaluable and inspiring, and we truly appreciated our time together.
