Thanksgiving is a special time that allows us to think about all of the things in our lives that we can be grateful for and allows us the opportunity to celebrate with friends, families, and loved ones. The National Guard community has been extremely busy this year with over 120,000 National Guard Servicemembers mobilized. These mobilizations not only included deployments overseas but also deployments domestically supporting COVID-19 Operations, civil disturbances, natural disasters as well as security missions at the southern border and the US Capitol. The men and women of the National Guard have faithfully answered our nation’s call when asked, and their service has not gone unnoticed.
As we reflect on this year, it is important to remember and give thanks not only to our National Guard Servicemembers but also to their families. These amazing fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, spouses, and children stand shoulder to shoulder with their servicemember in order to ensure that they are supported and loved. These families are willing to sacrifice to ensure that their Soldier or Airmen can accomplish their missions and honorably serve our nation.
It is also important to remember that there are also many National Guard Servicemembers and their families who are facing significant struggles this year. The Coronavirus Pandemic, deployments, and potential job loss have taken its toll across our country. The financial strains, from a myriad of issues, have caused considerable stress to many.
In order to address this, The Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States (EANGUS) has continued to offer financial assistance to those National Guard Servicemembers and their families in need. Through financial programs such as EANGUS We Care For America (We Care For America | Foundation (eangus-wcfa.org)), and Operation VetCare (Operation VetCare | EANGUS), EANGUS has provided hundreds of thousands of dollars in financial support to these deserving individuals. These programs do not receive any government funding and are 100% supported by our corporate partners and generous donations from caring citizens across this country. Please take a brief moment to look at these amazing programs and consider making a donation to ensure that the entire National Guard Community has the financial support and resources needed so that they can continue to serve our great nation.
Finally, on this Thanksgiving, I hope that you savor each and every moment and are able to reflect on the many blessings you enjoy in your life. From the entire EANGUS family, we wish you good fortune and joy on this wonderful day. Happy Thanksgiving.
