EANGUS WELCOMES A NEW LEGISLATIVE TEAM

Mr. Michael T. Lane                           Mr. David J. Daniels, IV

EANGUS Legislative Director           Manager of Legislative Affairs

After a lengthy search and over 100 applicants, EANGUS is excited to announce two new team members joining the National Office as your EANGUS Legislative Team. Mr. Michael T. Lane, a Utah Air Guard member, has accepted the role of EANGUS Legislative Director. His partner on Capitol Hill will be Mr. David J. Daniels IV, accepting the role of EANGUS Manager of Legislative Affairs. Together, they will be the beacon and voice for the Soldiers, Airmen, families, and partners of the National Guard in Washington DC. Both have a passion and sense of purpose when it comes to the National Guard and want to make sure that EANGUS provides the strongest, most professional voice possible to every need of the Guard.

Michael T. Lane has been a long serving member of EANGUS, having served on the Junior Enlisted Committee, the Legislative Committee, and the Resolutions committee. He is the former legislative chair for the Utah Association and has advocated for the National Guard in DC multiple times in the past. Prior to his selection, Michael worked in the US House of Representatives, worked in local elections, and developed a strong reputation in Washington DC as an advocate for the Guard in both the Senate and the House.

His legislative background, understanding of the National Guard, and his direction for the Legislative Director position makes him an outstanding representative for our Citizen Soldiers and Airmen. He brings a state level perspective to the EANGUS legislative priorities and is eager to work to promote the National Guard. As an Emergency Manager in the Utah Air National Guard, Michael is currently deployed to the Middle East and will take on the full responsibilities of the job when he returns in late May.

Mr. David J Daniels, IV, is bringing Hill experience along with energy and vision to the Manager of Legislative Affairs job. David brings to EANGUS over seven years of government relations and Capitol Hill experience. David has previously worked on Capitol Hill as a Senate and House Staffer and has had various experiences in the corporate and nonprofit sectors. As a Congressional staffer, David has worked for both Republicans and Democrats in communications and policy roles. David spent time working for international nonprofits and Fortune 500 companies. He led internal and external coalition building to help increase Capitol Hill pay and transparency on Capitol Hill by building grassroots efforts with world-renowned nonprofits.

David will be responsible for leading advocacy efforts in support of EANGUS’ Legislative priorities and goals. This will include, but is not limited to, responding to inquiries from members and congressional staff; establishing and maintaining working relationships with key staffers; attending meetings with staff and corresponding with association members; and organizing, coordinating, and attending meetings with the EANGUS Executive Council and EANGUS committees.

Born and raised on the Gulf Coast in Mobile, AL, David avidly loves all things southern, particularly his sports food and Mardi Gras. A proud alumnus of Mississippi State University (2017) and avid golfer, David loves to spend time on the golf course or watching a good college football game. David attributes his interest to a career in public service and politics from spending his summers in Nashville, where he worked as a field organizer for a Mayoral campaign, caddying at a local golf course, and as an intern working for the Country Music Awards. In his free time, David devotes his talents to speaking with D.C. youth, particularly at Langston Golf Course, where he teaches adolescents how to caddie. He belongs to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and is an Aspen Socrates Emerging Leader Alum.

“I’m excited to join EANGUS as the Manager of Legislative Affairs. The issues that face our enlisted women and men are nonpartisan and critical to the viability of the United States. I look forward to using my bipartisan experience to advocate for those serving our country daily. EANGUS has a rich tradition of legislative achievements, and it’s an honor to join a respected professional nonprofit that dedicates itself to serving our women and men in the National Guard. I’m most excited about visiting our state chapters and getting to know all of our members!”

EANGUS is looking forward to both of our new team members being engaged with Congress and the states. The backgrounds and vision that they share will help make EANGUS one of the most recognized and visible service organizations across the country.
