Business Case

Service members regularly struggle with child care during drill weekends and periods of unscheduled service (e.g., emergency response). Soldiers and Airmen volunteered to protect and serve our nation; however, they do not relinquish their desire to raise a family and live the American Dream. Children are our most valuable resource, and they need investment, not charity. The child care issue in America is becoming a more significant problem in this post-pandemic world. A previous questionnaire in 2021 showed that 73% of the force had children, and 82% of those with children had experienced issues regarding child care.

Recommendation

The Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States urges the Congress of the United States to pursue the development of child care programs to support the readiness and retention of National Guard members.
