Resolution Title | Minimize MHS Genesis Usage |
Resolution Description (Short) | Proposes minimizing the reliance on MHS Genesis to streamline the recruitment process by reducing delays in assessing recruits' medical eligibility. |
Proposal Type | New |
State/Territory Chapter Submitting (Primary Sponsor) | KS |
Business Case | The MHS Genesis program was initially developed to consolidate medical records into a single, authoritative source to facilitate the assessment of recruits' medical history. However, it has inadvertently caused significant delays in enlisting qualified recruits due to the increased time required to review comprehensive medical data. This has created administrative burdens for recruits, recruiters, and Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) personnel. In an environment where the military struggles to meet recruitment goals, it is critical to eliminate unnecessary obstacles. MHS Genesis should be used selectively in critical cases rather than as an obligatory administrative requirement. Streamlining this process could expedite recruitment and help meet military manpower needs more effectively. |
Recommendation | The Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States recommends to the Congress of the United States legislation to minimize the mandatory use of MHS Genesis in the military recruitment process. |
