Business Case | A bill introduced by Senators Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) aims to provide leave for all new parents, including non-birthing parents and parents of adopted or foster children, who serve as Guard members or reservists on a drill. Currently, only birth mothers are eligible for leave, i.e., paid time off from drill. Expanding this benefit would provide equitable support to all Guard members who become parents, improving family readiness and retention. |
Recommendation | The Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States recommends to the Congress of the United States legislation in support of the expansion of paid Parental Leave for Guard members. |
