The Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) reduces Social Security benefits for individuals who receive a pension from work not covered by Social Security, including many retired National Guard members. This reduction unfairly penalizes individuals who have paid into Social Security throughout their careers. The Social Security Fairness Act (HR 82) seeks to eliminate WEP and the Government Pension Offset (GPO) to provide fair treatment for retired Guard members and other public servants who have earned Social Security benefits.

The Enlisted Association of the National Guard of the United States supports the passage of the Social Security Fairness Act (HR 82) and calls for the repeal of the Windfall Elimination Provision to ensure fair Social Security benefits for all retired Guard members.
